Television: Introduction to TV drama

  1)  Who do you think are the main characters in   His Dark Materials ? Why? Lyra, Mrs Coulter, Pan and Will. this is because they are seen the most time the the trailer and are the main characters in the trailer.  2) What narratives (storylines) are introduced in this trailer? adventure and escapism - a hunt- mystery.  3) What settings appear in the trailer? Describe as many as you can. there are many settings which show that it is an adventure programme  and they are unusual settings. the settings give a sense of mystery and not knowing where its going to be next.  4)  What genre (or genres) are suggested by this  His Dark Materials  trailer? Give reasons for your answer. i think the target audience is for 10 years and above because it seems like a family show but for more of a teen audience then children.

  1) What year was the advert produced? 1955 2) How were women represented in most adverts in the 1950s? the British society were still adapting after WW2 which women took on many traditional male jobs with men off fighting.  3) What typography can be found in the advert and what connotations might this have? sans serif is used on the advert which connotates clean, minimal, friendly and modern. this could mean that they are trying to entice women in a 'friendly' way.  4) What does the costume, make-up and placement of the model (mise-en-scene) suggest about women's role in society in 1955? women is smiling at the camera: direct address, eye contact, with audience. smile suggests women should be happy about being a housewife and mother.   1) What does BAME stand for? The acronym BAME stands for  Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic  and is defined as all ethnic groups except White ethnic groups. 2) Why is there a need for blood in the BAME community?  not enough BAME community are donating blood which means there a lack of blood as when giving someone blood it has to match there blood type and therefore by not enough BAME community giving blood it means lack of people being able to receive  it too.  3) What does this advert want people to do once they've seen it (the 'call to action')? by doing this advert they want people (especially BAME community ) to raise the awareness and importance of donating blood and to entice  the community to co-operate by donating blood.  4) Why have the producers chosen famous BAME celebrities to feature in the advert?
